Brand round 5, mark exploration, third round, 23 October 2026

Nine marks made from the name

The first two rounds were set aside because they did not lead back to the name. Here every mark is built from the name itself: its letters and its 1. All glyphs are outlines taken from Hedvig Letters Serif and Sans, drawn as paths, with no text, gradients or filters. Each direction has one honest variant, and each carries the line you say when you see it.

Same tile rulesRounded tile at 22.4 percent radius, mark in white on green, as in round two.
Real sizes180, 60, 32 and 16 CSS px, drawn by the browser from the vector.
Two groundsStone and night. Night green is #7CC4B1, night ink the stone-coloured ink.

The directions

For each: the idea, what you read, the mark on both grounds, the app tile, one colour, and the lockup.

Director's reading, 23 October, night

DirectionCallWhy
2, O1Recommended markTwo glyphs that say the whole name: the serif O reads "One" with the green 1, and the 1 is the 1 of L1fe. A stranger reads "O-one" and has the brand's name and its one odd letter in one look; on second sight it is "oh, One L1fe". Holds at 32, still a pair at 16. Risk: "01" as a number; the serif and the green keep it a word.
1 at 2.2x, the 1 of L1feFavicon and smallest sizesThe wordmark's own 1, heavy enough for 16 px. Nothing added, so nothing to learn; it rides on the wordmark everywhere else. Use it where O1 has no room.
3B, OL1 (sans, bold)Shortlist, internal and app tileThe company's own shorthand as one glyph; sturdy on the tile. Says "OL1" rather than "One L1fe", so it is the team's mark more than the public's.
5, One with the 1 insideKept as a wordmark treatmentSays "One" in full and hides the switch's ring in the O; too wide for an icon.
1B, baselineClosedReads as an L.
2B, overlappingClosedReads as a lowercase a.
4, L1FE capitalsClosedA wordmark, not a mark; the small ONE vanishes at 60.
6, ring open or closedClosedThe round-4 ring again; the opening closes at 16.
7, L1fe as a figureClosedReads "Life" or "ilfe"; the figure costs the name.
8, the footed 1; 9, the L1 pillarClosedBoth read as an L at small sizes; the 1 is lost, and with it the name.

Panel, two fresh raters (synthetic, renders only)

RaterHeadWhat they readNotes
Stranger, wordmark covered (Sonnet)5B, "One" with the 1 as the n's stem2: "One"; 3B: "OL1"; 5: "One"; the heavy 1: "One" or "1"; 6B: a numbered badgeReads as a word instantly: 2, 2B, 5, 5B. Best app icon: 6B, then 5B and the heavy 1. Risk of 5B: at 16 to 32 px it is just a serif word.
Recognition-only rater (Haiku)1B, the 1 with the foot as the LOnly the capitals (4, 4B) say the full name without helpToo plain: the bare 1s. Too busy or wrong at small sizes: OL1, the capitals, One with the 1, the rings, the figure.

Reading: the stranger rater reads "One" from O1, from One-with-the-1 and even from the heavy 1 alone, which is the test the owner set: the mark says the name. The raters split on the head; the director's pick, O1, is the one every reader called "One" at every size that still works as an icon. Choice for the owners: O1 (the name in two glyphs, icon-sized) or "One" with the 1 inside (the name in full, wordmark-sized), with the heavy 1 as the favicon under either.
